PROFILE

Ben’s practice concentrates on defending professionals, including lawyers, accountants, real estate professionals, insurance brokers and agents, and medical providers, in civil and administrative proceedings throughout Maine.

Ben also handles civil rights, municipal liability, and employment disputes for a variety of private companies, municipalities, and public officials. Additionally, he has litigated numerous complex coverage issues through judgment and frequently defends clients in wrongful death and products liability cases in state and federal court.

Given his broad experience, Ben is regularly called on to serve as outside counsel to a number of state agencies.

In addition to his core practice areas, Ben has an active construction litigation practice representing owners, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers in a wide range of issues.

Ben’s trial and appellate experience includes cases handled in state and federal court in Maine and multiple appearances before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. He has been recognized as a New England Super Lawyers Rising Star for 2019-2025, an honor given to only 2.5% of his peers in New England.

Prior to entering private practice, Ben served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Nancy Torresen for the U.S. District Court for the District of Maine. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Maine School of Law in 2015, where he was an Articles Editor for the Maine Law Review and received the Faculty Significant Achievement Award as well as the Pro Bono Publico Award. He also assisted low-income Mainers with a variety of legal issues as a student attorney at the Cumberland Legal Aid Clinic.

Originally from Scarborough, Ben lives in Cape Elizabeth with his wife and two daughters.
