PROFILE

Caitlin’s practice includes all aspects of civil litigation, with a focus on professional liability, insurance counseling services, and appellate practice.

Caitlin brings extensive litigation experience to her practice, including her background in appellate, court-appointed, and professional liability cases.

Caitlin is from central Maine. She attended Mercyhurst College in Erie, Pennsylvania, where she earned a BA in Marriage and Family Studies and Criminal Justice. Caitlin later earned her law degree at the University of Maine School of Law, where she served as a teaching assistant for the civil procedure, criminal procedure, and legal writing classes. Before entering private practice, Caitlin clerked for Justice Alexander at the Maine Supreme Judicial Court.

In addition to her work at Norman Hanson & DeTroy, she serves as the Legal Studies Coordinator for the University of Maine’s Postdoctoral Fellowship in Forensic Psychology, and as a Trustee for the Portland Public Library.

Caitlin is also a novelist; her debut, The Damage, was published by Penguin in 2021. She lives in southern Maine with her husband Ben and their daughters.
